Associates in Orthopaedic Surgery
Associates in Orthopaedic Surgery is an incorporated
group of three orthopaedic specialists dedicated to providing optimum
personal medical and surgical care.
Serving the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago we are conveniently
at the corners of Dundee
Ave and Summit St. in Elgin, and on Route 31 in Crystal Lake
(across from the Crystal Lake Ambutal which is now Sherman Family Health Care). Their facilities are designed
to accommodate parking and disabled access, all to promote comfort and
stress-free patient visits.
The Practice
The practice was founded in 1979 by Michael
H. Berkson M.D. He was joined by Arnold J. Herbstman M.D. in 1981
and by Scott W. Mox M.D. in 1988. All three doctors are on staff at
both Sherman and Provena St. Joseph's Hospitals in Elgin, Il. and at
the Algonquin Road Surgery Center in Lake in The Hills on Algonquin Road
and Randall Road where they
have earned the respect of their colleagues and patients for their
professionalism, knowledge and skill.
Dr. Berkson has served as Chief of Surgery and
as Secretary, Vice President and President of the Medical Staff
at Sherman Hospital and has served 3 terms of 3 years each on the
Executive Committee during his 27 years on staff at Sherman Hospital.
Dr. Herbstman is currently past President of the medical
staff at Sherman Hospital and sits on the Sherman Hospital Board
of Directors. He has served as Sherman Hospital's Chief of Surgery,
Secretary and Vice President of the medical staff and on the hospital
staff Executive Committee. He has been a teacher and guest speaker
on Laser Surgery for many professional groups across the country
and internationally. Dr. Herbstman has also earned a masters degree
in business administration. Dr. Mox has been the Chief of the Surgical
Department of Sherman Hospital and has been a member of the Executive
Committee.
